How to Enroll
If you are eligible for Medicaid, you need to choose a health plan. The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) works with Healthy Louisiana to enroll members in a health plan.
The enrollment staff can:
- Help you and your family enroll in a health plan like AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana
- Answer questions about your choice of health plans
- Help you if you want to change health plans (disenroll)
To talk to an Enrollment Specialist, call 1-855-229-6848 (TTY 1-855-526-3346). You can also enroll by going to the Healthy Louisiana website.
After you enroll with AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana
After you enroll in AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana, you will get a member welcome kit. The kit has information about your benefits and services.
Please note: Once you are enrolled in a health plan, you have 90 days from the postmark date on the Notice of Enrollment to change plans (disenroll). You can change plans for any reason. If you choose not to change plans in this 90-day period, you will be locked into that plan for 12 months from the postmark date on the Notice of Enrollment or until the next annual open enrollment period, whichever comes first.
There are times when you are allowed to change plans during the lock-in period. If you have questions about if this applies to you, please call Member Services or see your member handbook.
