Signs and symptoms

ADHD behaviors are broken into 3 categories: inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity.
Inattention
Inattention is how well you can focus. Someone with inattention may:
- Get distracted easily.
- Have a hard time paying attention.
- Miss details or make mistakes.
- Stop listening in the middle of a conversation.
- Put off work (procrastinate).
- Lose items easily.
- Be forgetful.
Hyperactivity
Hyperactivity is how easily you can sit still. Someone with hyperactivity may:
- Fidget or squirm a lot.
- Get up and walk around when they shouldn’t.
- Run or climb when they shouldn’t.
- Talk a lot.
- Have a hard time doing quiet activities.
Impulsivity
Impulsivity is how well you can control yourself. An impulsive person may:
- Be impatient.
- Have a hard time waiting.
- Interrupt others.
- Yell out answers.
