Well Care Center
Regular preventive care visits for adolescents provide opportunities for early identification and appropriate management and intervention for conditions and behaviors that, if not addressed, can become serious and persist into adulthood.
Because of the rapid development occurring during adolescence, this is the time when many physical and mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and health risk behaviors first emerge. Yet well-care visit rates decline as children age into adolescence.
Let’s reverse this trend. As our provider partners in care, join us in echoing this message: regular checkups and visits to your offices are a vital part of our young members’ physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth.
For starters, we ask parents and guardians to make sure our young members take part in our Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment (EPSDT) services.
Ask parents and guardians to schedule their children’s visits around their birthdays so the appointments are easy to remember.
If members need help scheduling appointments or need transportation to your office, call Member Services at 1-888-756-0004; TTY 1-866-428-7588, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
